Paper Raffia Crochet Basket – Tutorial
We crocheted the same basket pattern in our three different kinds of paper raffia (and we think they all turned out beautifully). We also used the same crochet hook for all three baskets to show you the difference between our different

Supplies:
Biggest basket: made out of our “classic” paper raffia.
You’ll need about 120m / 132 yards (0.14kg) – we used up our stash of differently colored leftovers.
Medium basket: made out of our Japanese manila hemp paper raffia Nm 2.1. You’ll need about 90m / 100 yards (0.04kg)
Small basket: made out of our thinner Japanese manila hemp paper raffia Nm 4.2. You’ll need about 90m / 100 yard (0.02kg)

Tools:
We crocheted all three baskets with the same hook: EU 5mm / US H/8 / Canada/UK 6

Abbreviations (US Terms):
ch: chain
sc: single crochet (UK term: double crochet)
st(s): stitch(es)

Note: the basket is worked entirely in a spiral. Except for round 1 the entire basket is worked in single crochet stitches.

Round 1: ch4, join by sl st to first st to form ring, 12 sc in ring, join by sl st to first st. (12 sc)
Round 2: 2sc in each st around. (24 sts)
Round 3: 1sc in each st around (24 sts)
Round 4: *2 sc in first st, 1 sc in next st*, repeat between * (36)
Round 5: Round 3: 1sc in each st around (36 sts)
Round 6: *2 sc in first st, 1 sc in next st*, repeat between * (54 sts)
Rounds 6-9: 1sc in each st around (54 sts)
Round 10: * 2 sc in first st, 1 sc in next st*, repeat between * (72 sts)
Round 11-21: 1sc in each st around (72 sts)

Decrease:

Round 22: * 1sc in first st, 1sc in next st, 1sc in next st, skip one st * repeat between * (54 sts)
Round 23: 1sc in each st around (54 sts)
Round 24: * 1sc in first st, 1sc in next st, 1sc in next st, skip one st * repeat between * (42 sts) (note: last two just 1sc in each st)
Round 25: 1sc in each st around (42 sts)

Fasten off.
